In the early stages of the COVID pandemic, international travel was severely restricted, affecting business and tourism profoundly. We were consulted on how airports could reliably identify which passengers were uninfected and therefore free to enter the country. In proposing a novel testing procedure, we overcame obstacles to establish an effective testing regime that protected the population and allowed travel and trade to resurge.
